What is fear?
-
No, never. I can do things in the dark I couldn't do in the daylight...for various reasons.
-
I am still afraid of the dark. I always feel something is going to be there somewhere. I don't fear it anywhere as much as I used to, though. It gives me a little chill, a little one.
-
no ,accually dark is nice if its in my own house were i'm comfortable
-
Outside, on my own, yes. Inside i walk around in the night with no lights on - but there is light coming from other sources. Pitch black is scary to me still (I'm nearly 30), and it is because I have a very vivid imagination and I scare myself!!
-
If I'm in my house, the dark doesn't scare me at all. If I am outside, the dark can terrify me. I don't want Jeepers Creepers to get me!
-
When I was a kid I was afraid of the light. I had this idea about ghosts and monsters that if it was really dark in my room then I wouldn't be able to see them, so I wouldn't get scared- I'd just assume they weren't there. If it was light I'd see them and be frightened. So I used to have double thick curtais in my room and ban my mum from leaving the landing light on to make it as dark as possible.
-
Yes usually the dark does scare me, it's not the actually dark but the fact that any murderer or rapist or anything could be lurking, and hidden by the darkness. Even if i get up to go to the toilet in my own house at night i have to turn on my bedroom light so i can see there is nothing 'scary' hiding. ...what a freak!
-
If I'm with my hubby it can be quite fun. If I'm by myself and have my ipod with some good music, it doesn't bother me. But if I'm alone without any music, it can creep me out.
-
yes and i dont know why i guess of the unknown
-
yes i am.
-
No the dark does not bother me at all. I like it.
-
like that old show on nickleodian back in the day? No, i'm not, not anymore. when i was younger i was, but more of what i'd pretend i saw in the dark than the darkness itself. I pretended any small shadow was a monster, or something out to get me. i think all young kids did now i find darkness refreshing and calming, and pretty much essential if i'm to sleep
-
There are no such things as ghosts, There are no such things as ghosts, There are no such things as ghosts, There are no such things as ghosts, There are no such things as ghosts, There are no such things as ghosts, There are no such things as ghosts, There are no such things as ghosts, There are no such things as ghosts, There are no such things as ghosts. Just keep on saying that and I'm fine.
-
No. I love the dark. It is calming, quieting, and gives me a sense of rest and renewal.
-
I was terrified of the dark, inside and forget outside, that was worse. I thought things seen and unseen were out to get me. I got over it around 32 and now find it very restful and comforting, even when alone.
-
If im alone YES!! guess because I can't see in the dark. so my hearing is like 10 times stronger and every little sound freaks me out.
-
I am freaked of the dark. Partly because ive been abused alot but my family has been robbed when we were all asleep and I guess that really freaked me out. You never know what kind of sickos are waiting for you to rape or kill you. and im only 15 so i still have a bit of an imagination...
-
I love the dark on my turf but I am not big on the dark in buildings, parking lots etc
-
I am not afraid of the dark. However, I am afraid by some of the conditions which the dark enables. Let me explain. The dark itself is not - and usually isn't the issue - the issue is the sense that you are either alone, paranoid, or something you don't want to be watching you is watching you. Being in a safe place within your home and being afraid of the "dark" is often unwarranted and a bit a sign of paranoia. However, if I am walking home late one night from a college campus - It almost seems that the lighted path is the only place I feel safe. Simple, I am never afraid of the dark, But I am wearry of dangerous people and dangerous circumstances which lure in the darkness.
-
Love it. The best night's sleep I ever had in my life was in a completely windowless basement room.
-
Nope. This is because dark is the same as light, only with less light.
-
No I sleep better in the dark
-
no, it is no different than day
-
I used to be because I thought monsters only come for you in the night to hurt you. Now days I like the night, I don't sleep well so its nice to wander in the dark.
-
Not at all. There's nothing in the dark that's not in the light. I can understand being afraid to walk in a city at night, but turning the light off in your bedroom does not release the beasties from under your bed or in your closet, or wherever else the cheesy horror films tell you they like to hide. The dark is your friend, kids. It really is.
-
I am afraid of tripping over or bumping into things, and hence getting hurt. I am clumsy, and get enough bruises in the light. In the dark, damage is almost certain.
-
no, i love the night.there is nothing more exciting than walking around in the woods during full moon. or taking out my telescope anytime.
-
Not really, if I have my cellphone I just whip it out, flip it open and it lights the way pretty well. If not I just feel my way around. If the place is really that unfamiliar I would do it crawling.
-
Sometimes. I guess it's literally a fear of the unknown.
-
NO, except when surrounded by monsters and little grey aliens!
-
No. Cause whatever is there can't see it anyway.
-
Yes because I'm scared of the unknown
-
Yes and I have no idea why to be honest.
-
No. I love the dark. It is very peaceful, calming, and feels protective. My favorite is a dark night with a violent thunderstorm. I just open the window, lay on my bed, and listen. FYI, plagarism isn't nice. Support the return of the avatar: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/111472

Nobody is afraid of the dark. It's the unknown that's frightening. "The dark" is just a tangible manifestation of the unknown.

-
Not in the slightest, the memory of the bogeyman left me many years ago.
-
Yes, I'm 16 years old. I've lived in the same house all of my life. At night when i'm walking from my bathroom to my room , and its dark i get scared. Or when i hear weird sounds at night i get scared and will get up the covers and close my eyes.
-
No not at all. I spend a lot of time alone and have never felt nervous walking about a rather large house in the dark. I have never felt unsafe on the street in the dark either. Maybe I am totally insensitive or just plain dumb
-
No. whats in the dark is the same as whats in the light.
-
NO. Like I tell the kids. The same stuff in the same place as in the light.
-
its wierd sometimes i cant sleep without them on because im afraid someone is gonna get me...and then other times i cant sleep with all of them completly off? its wierd but oh well lol
-
Sort of. Ive seen too many scary movies, I guess. I find myself also banging myself up in the dark more often than not.
-
sometimes yes, it is funny to say because I am 29 years old but if my husband is on night shift I sleep with the bathroom light on or in the front room with the tv going. I hate to go outside after dark.
-
The dark itself cannot harm me, but what lurks in it can, so the actual 'dark' as in lack of light is not scary
-
not really...i cant sleep unless my room is dark. but i hate walking out of a dark room...sometimes i get chills and i dont know why. that's weird right?
-
what's to be afraid of? there's nothing there that's not there during the day.i guess a walk in the woods is out of the question?
-
I know I am.
-
Me and heights don't get along.
-
Heights.. yes but usually only in office buildings or really tall hotels.. not in planes or mountains for some reason..
-
Nope. Sure am not.
-
heights - im scared of falling and not being able to stop...until *splat*...
-
No, but I am irrationally terrified of spiders.
-
I am afraid of being stuck out on a ledge twenty stories up. It is night and I can't see my footing or my hands in front of me.
-
I do not like the dark but I'm not really afraid of it and, yes, I am afraid of heights.
-
I can see pretty well in the dark. Heights however... and I used to go up onto the top outside platform, of the World Trade Towers!
-
No. But it IS irritating when I can't see where I'm walking.
-
i go to sleep with the light off etc but if it gets pitch black where you cant even see your hand in front of you then i get panicky
-
I was till about age 14 then it became nothing big to be in the dark now I can stay out all night in strange places and not even get spooked I prefer working at night now.
-
No, as a matter of fact, I think the dark is afraid of me.
-
Inside darkness is fine. Outside darkness scares the hell out of me!
-
if my husband is working nights or gone i am sleep with the bathroom light on or the TV
-
only when there's a monster in it
-
I am terrified of it, actually. Not the dark, but rather what is hiding in the dark.
-
no
-
nope. Because if anything or person has cover in the darkness, you do too. I quite enjoy it.
-
I'm not afraid so much of the dark as what I can imagine while I'm in it.
-
no, i love the dark.
-
the dark is my friend, with my wife's scope and rifle the dark is the ememy's worse fear. hey, koa, are you feeling lucky?
-
Not if I know where I am. Outside, there are lurkers that might want to do harm (people).
-
No, not at all. I like the dark. It is always more peaceful. I live in a very warm climate and night is usually much cooler, too. I am very much a day person but I don't find anything fearful about the dark.
-
No i think there are the same things in light and darkness.
-
no one is afraid of the dark. they are afraid of the unknown.
-
Not so much afraid of the dark itself per se, but I am more afraid of what could be in the dark...if that makes sense.
-
I'm afraid of what might be hidden in the dark...
-
No I am not and that is the only way I can sleep. It has to be pitch black and quiet.
-
No, I love the dark. It is where I can be peaceful.
-
No i am not afraid of the dark spiders yes dark no
-
No I like to sleep in the super dark, if I could I would board up the windows.
-
No, I like it dark and quiet but not the light sucking kind of dark you find in a cave. That's too dark. I like shadows and silhouettes with my dark:-)
-
No not especially.
-
i hate the dark! i have a wild imagination, and think there's a ghost of some guy i don't know called jasper who sits in my room ready to knife me at any minute... but when i was 7 and wanted to be a hitman, i liked it...
-
only if I've been watching a scary movie!
-
not anymore. i forced myself to sit in the dark for long periods of time, and now i'm used to it.
-
Alittle bit
-
Depends on where I am in the dark
-
depends who i am with
-
Not really.
-
I feel protected in the dark and like to sleep in pitch dark while listening to the sound of pure silence. Isn't it weird that you tend to hear something in absolute silence?
-
Short answer: yes
-
No I like it.
-
No, but you should be afraid of me in the dark!
-
I'll admit, I can be a little afraid of the dark if I've just finished watching a scary movie that I have never seen before...
