Put uncontrollable people on traquilizers.

I would say that if the "shoot on sight" principle was applied to criminals caught in the act, crime would go down drastically. As for the toy guns, the orange caps are not enough, for while a lot of them do have them, they are OFTEN removed. ALL fake guns need to be completely orange.

Punish the criminal. It has nothing to do with the gun. The criminals will get guns regardless, they can smuggle them just like drugs if they need to. Harsher punishment for the crimes is the key, too many criminals walk or get a smack on the wrist when they should get serious consequences.

I'm a believer in education. a basic, one day (an hour or two would be enough) gun safety in public high school. and them more advanced gun safety for anyone anyone wishing to buy a gun. then prosecute the owners of guns used in crimes (or even accidental shootings) even if they were not involved in the crime.

well since controlling guns will never stop criminals from illegally obtaining them I think we just need better education about fire arms and maybe some opportunities for people that piurchase guns to get some classes on how to care for them, store them and be responsible for them. I blame the parent that allowed their kid to get hold of a gun in the house as much as I blame the kid who took the gun and killed someone.

I don't understand what your actual goal is. Which do you want? Do you want gun control? or Do you want to stop gun violence? Gun control in any form will not stop violence, gun related or otherwise. Proper firearm education like "Eddie Eagle" will help stop children from being hurt by firearm accidents. It doesn't matter a bit how many police are on the street if the prisons have open doors and violent felons continue to return to the street without being rehabilitated. Like the four paroled felons who have been responsible for the most recent police officer deaths in Philadelphia.

It's been said, but I think it deserves repeating. Education! Nothing else can be more helpful. Parents need to make this a priority in what they teach their children. Right up there with sex and personal hygiene.
