Books! This is a no-brainer! Books books books. I LOVE books. I'd MARRY a book if it were legal!
-
I think I would have to go with the music. I've already read most of my collection of books so it would be pointless to read them again. Although I do have a copy of Robinson Cureso that I havn't read yet, might come in handy. :-)
-
That's a hard one. My collection of both is pretty pathetic but if it was all the books or all the CDs I wanted I'd have to go with..... CDs. I need music.
-
Oh DEFINATELY the music. I'd have a better chance living on a deserted island WITH my music than living where I live now WITHOUT my music. Ergh . . . I can't bear to even think about life without music! =P
-
I would take the books along. I dont really like to read but I would start loving it. Witht he music, its just going to get old and I'm not going to want to listen to it anymore. But with the books, it takes me a couple weeks to read them and that will occupy my time more than music. Plus I would be able to learn something from the books. What are you going to lern from the music except for the lyrics to the songs?
-
well i hope there is outlets on this island ..lol but id rather have my colection of music .i have a 400 disc cd/dvd changer and i thnk it would last me a long time ..knowing i have like over 500 cds.lol
-
(Are we also assuming that we'll never become farsighted & thus unable to read the books?) I'll choose books because I forget the details of a book about 6 weeks after reading it anyway & so I could read them over & over.
-
Books. You can always sing or make a musical instrument. Maybe not a full-pedalboard organ, but something.
-
I would have to choose music. Considering I was on a desert island, the sun would burnmy eye lids so would not be able to read. But sure could get down and dirty, and no one would be around to rate my dancing.
-
My entire collection of music. This would also mean I would have to bring along my ipod and on my ipod I have a bunch of audiobooks. I know it's sort of cheating but if you think about music just being a collection of sounds, then an audiobook is music that tells a story and isn't big on instruments.
-
Certainly books, and assuming there was good light and a nice easy chair. Brothers Karamazov would be on the list, as it takes about 6 weeks to get thro the first 6 chapters, and then it is ok. Would take All of Dostoevsky's books, and Shakespeare, and something really boring to put one to sleep.
-
I would take my entire CD collection, which will consist of all my favourite books on audio (by Stephen Fry of course) plus all my favourite music
-
I have a vast music collection which I couldn't live without, so I'd have to take that. At least I could read the sleeves of the albums.
-
If you had a three thousand mile extenstion cord, to play the music, yes....music. but, over time, the cd's, tapes, etc. would wear out or melt. Books. they are everlasting. can be read over and over. not effected to weather, compared to cds and tapes(the heat). The music gets a one star rating. The books receive five stars.
-
Probably books, if I took my music, then I'd spend all my time listening to it intead of finding food and water, and would starve to death in the space of a day.
-
books
-
...this is probably a given for most people who know somewhat from my answers. My entire collection of music.
-
books
-
my music, definitely. I can't live without music...it feeds my soul.
-
All my Music CD's
-
give me every charles bukowski and jd salinger book and i'd be good.
-
I love books, but I can listen to the same music over and over, so I'd have to say music
-
books. i probably wouldn't have enough batteries.
-
Books. I can sing and make music. I also have sheet music in some of my books.
-
Music,Music and more Music as long as I had a wind up record player
-
Music. Reasons: 1. My eyesight is a little bit worse every year and without new prescriptions....you get the idea. 2. I'm a musician and using my creativity would be important to kill boredom. You can make a musical instrument out of just about anything in a pinch. Creating writing materials would be a lot harder and less conducive to spontaneity. Playing the coconuts with your favorite band is more gratifying that "writing along" with Shakespeare. 3. Listening to music is easier - you can do it while injured, starving, clawing at your own personal four foot long tapeworm, etc. 4. Bitchin' sound systems make for good rescue signals, as do reflective CDs 5. Reflective CDs can be arranged in a hemisphere to create a solar oven, a signal as mentioned above, or even a small Archimedes death ray (you have lots of time to adjust it). 6. Shattered CD shards make excellent stabbing points for knives and spears (ask anyone who's ever done time in a federal penitentiary). Little shimmering pieces can also be used to attract fish to a line or trap. One question for clarification here before I make my final decision: Can "Books" include "Porn"?
-
Music. Music always lifts me up and I can multitask while listening to music. The same is not true with books for me.
-
Books without a doubt.
-
Music! I have quite a collection of music: 600 LP's, 465 cassettes, over 500 CD's. I would listen to it all alphabetically.
-
CDs. I prefer books here in a non-desert island setting, but if all I can take is MY collection of books, that's really no good, because I've read them all. Music would make me happier. It's OK if you know how a song ends.
-
Books, without thinking twice... x
-
Books
-
Music- my life would be dull w/o it.
-
Books they would take up a lot more time
-
Books, i would use the lame ones to make a boat.
-
Umm if you are stuck on a island how are you going to listen to the music without electricity? I would have to say books.
-
books
-
Books for sure. Music tends to get "lost" in my head while a good book passes time, evokes thoughts, etc.
-
Definitely books - and it's ok if there isn't an endless supply... some books get better with each reading.
-
If I had an endless supply of batteries or whatever for the music, I'd take that.
-
Books. The ones that aren't keepers could be used to build a shelter.
-
Music-being young and horny, I would bring an all female orchestra with me!
-
Books. There are so many amazing books out there. Definitely more than music. Especially considering the crap that is being released recently.
-
Definitely books.
-
Books, the music is firmly embedded in my head.
-
I take both, with lots of batteries for my music player :)
-
books
-
I would take the books.
-
Just give me an acoustic guitar. Thats all I need.
-
my books.
-
well i will like to take the collection of my music because it will make me feel comfortable in the lonely island and make me feel that i belonged to such a place where such music is made and i will make new songs out of them and it will pass my time and make me feel like i am the fortunate person to know the true meaning of all the songs rather than grooving on them... i will love hear them again and again... :)
-
Music. I am a good writer, I will write my own story with a stick on a leaf or something :P
-
Question: WOuld I always have a safe dry place to store my books? Damn this is hard!
-
My entire collection of music. I can never get bored of my favorite music. Reading something over and over will make me bored, however, even if it's my favorite collection of books.
