Because everyone sees it as Someone Else's Problem. My journey is vital - it is yours that is a waste of time and pollutes the environment. You should be more fugal, but I cannot afford the time. And I'll be frugal tomorrow, or the next day for certain, when all today's problems have gone away.

Every religion might have a moral precept to care for our home planet, but very few folks ever follow that precept nor many others either. As far as most people are concerned, greed and self interest trump morality. This is not cynical, only what happens. swabby

It may not be the teachings of the world’s religions, but their adherents falling away to pursuing materialism and “worshiping” gold and money as their idol. Mankind’s greed is a major driving force in the destruction of this planet’s environment. This will come to an end soon, because the God of the Bible shows us through His prophet Isaiah, that : (Isaiah 45:18) 18 “For this is what Jehovah has said, the Creator of the heavens, He the [true] God, the Former of the earth and the Maker of it, He the One who firmly established it, who did not create it simply for nothing, who formed it even to be inhabited” Yes God has a long term future in mind for this beautiful planet, with man still on it. Then at Revelation we learn that God must soon act to save the earth from man’s ruinous activities, and Bible prophecy confirms this. But what will he do? The Bible says that he will “bring to ruin those ruining the earth.” (Revelation 11:18) So just as a landlord ejects a destructive tenant, so God will “eject” those who ruin his beautiful creation, the earth.
