  • Most abbreviations are not allowed when asking a question, in addition to wanting to keep terminology consistent to get the best results from the search engine, some folks may not be familiar with the abbreviation! However, there are some exceptions. For example, you may refer to the United States as US if the category itself uses that abbreviation. You can also refer to DVDs and CDs in an abbreviated form since that is the main name for those objects. On the other hand, questions that use text-like abbreviations for words, like 'bf' for boyfriend, or 'b4' for 'before', or 'u' for 'you', should have these abbreviations spelled out instead. Keeping questions clear and concise helps people find information much more easily.
