maybe it is because the technology, the market and the industry made it possible for a larger number of bands to be created.

Because nobody understood what the music meant or stood for. They didn't care about talent, just as most people don't now. They want a nice conventional band & a pretty face. It's about individuality, effort, & perseverance. The 90s created a musical movement that gave people with a message, or people with real talent the opportunity to express themselves. Unfortunately certain people ruined it for the rest of them, just like the world. The whole 'grunge' era was just that, an era, unfortunately. Throughout the timeline there have been lots of people, bands, to change music for everyone, for the better. There have been great bands, good ones, and shitty ones. Lately, I've not had the privelege of seeing any new GREAT ones. So, I like to stick to locals.
