Because they don't know who they are. Without that, everything's unsatisfactory. Even when you get what you want, it's not enough.

Because, their not appreciative for what they have. They fill like they have to own everything to make them happy. They fill like they always have to recieve, but giving is a very precious thing. I was always taught the good moral, "Think of others more than yourself". That does not mean don't take care of your own needs, but remember the people that are without completely.

I have wondered this myself, particularly about people who have never had any REAL problems, yet find a way to complain anyway. I guess the answer is BECAUSE they have not really suffered or had real problems. I've seen people who have overcome a serious illness - and who were previously miserable - have a change in attitude and start to appreciate what is around them. However, of course not all people react with a positive and appreciate attitude just because they have suffered greatly. I think part of what makes people unhappy is that some people are born naturally predisposed to looking at the negative side of things. Also upbringing has a lot to do with it - being brought up in a negative environment can make a person see things in a negative manner. But basically, everyone CAN choose to be happy, and some people just never seem to make that choice. It's kind of sad for them, really, though it can be very difficult for others to tolerate an ever-complaining attitude, particularly others who are going through or have gone through something terribly traumatic.
