This describes an option to see something positive in pessimism, which seems a bit like a contradicition in itself. I am reminded of the dialog between a Sadist and a Masochist: Masochist: "Torture me, please!" Sadist: "No!" Masochist: "Thank you!"

That probably works out best in people who are always pessimistic; being that people's lives and personalities are made of varied shades of grey, I find the perma-pessimists to be pretty rare in life.
