  • its the takeover attitude. its common. you have to lock him out of your computer and your sales information and anything else he might have access. you could talk to your managers and see what they say.
  • Of course he is trying to get your job, he said he was.
  • Yes - keep him away from your clients - doesn't he have enough of his own work to do?
  • Ok um, it's abundantly clear at this point that he wants your job. I mean, wow. So what you have to do now is ensure that he NOT speak to your clients. The competition has been initiated, so it's time to fight. You are now at war with this guy, so you need to start getting ruthless and up the game. Take no prisoners.
  • It depends. He might be young and dumb enough to think a) that you are brilliant and the ideal mentor b) that you will be really impressed that he has drive and ambition and c) (as you are obviously on the fast track to bigger, better things) that you will take him under your wing and train him up as your replacement. It happens. In the UK they even encourage it by asking that dumb interview question 'where do you see yourself in five years time?' One word to the wise - don't kick him into touch. You may decide not to trust him an inch, but stay appearing to be a mentor, so he stays sweet with you. One thing you do not want is someone that ambitious thinking you have declared war.
