How do tanks turn?

I think that only the gun-part on the top turns. For a tank to change direction it has to keep turning progressively until it faces the opposite way.. What a peculiar question ! :)

they use what is called a zero turn system. One track will move while the other doesn't and that makes the tank turn. Some times one will move in the opposite direction also causing a turn.

The two sets of tracks spin in different directions, or one turns and the other doesn't. They tend to make a mess of the ground even when they're going straight, so I guess they don't worry about how much it's gonna mess up someone's flower bed when they turn.
