Use a travel search engine such as Travelocity to hunt down good deals. You can filter by cost, date, time, a lot of things.

The main airfare search engines (like travelocity) mostly deal with the major airlines. Look for the smaller operators like Jet Blue and many more. Also check Southwest - they have email deals and don't show up in the search pages
