Spot reducing/toning is a myth. The only way to truly reduce fat from anywhere is to lower your overall body fat percentage. An easy way to do this would be to start exercising. Running is great and swimming is even better.

You can tone up a bit by doing the butt-clenching exercise. The easiest thing in the world, you basically just clench your butt-cheeks, hold for ten seconds then release, and repeat. You just do it whenever you think about it- stood at the bus stop, waiting for the photocopier at work- anytime you get a few minutes. After a month or two you should ntice a definete difference. You can also help disperse fat by walking on your buttocks- as in sit down with your legs in front of you and use each buttock to push yourself forward and back (its kind of good fun as well- you can have races!) In general as with any fat-loss/toning plan, nothing will do much good unless you start to get rid of the underlying layer of fat, which can only be done by eating a good low-fat diet and getting some cardio-vascular exercise (something like dancing, or swimming using a variety of strokes will help to tone at the same time, so is a good option)
