  • The TFI module (computer on side of dist.)will do this for U. Auto Zone will test these for U, but it takes a somewhat special tool to take them off. Big Law Suites over this failing like it does & causing accidents. About $65.00 to replace. John
  • My old car did that too and it was the fuel pump went out. Might check that. I knew that what it was in my old car because it was an after market pump put on before I bought the car and could hear it I had the key in the ignition in the on position but not actually running. Check that out. That was a fairly easy fix for me.
  • Thanks for all the help and support. Did find out it was the EEC IV computer. This unit controls both the fuel pump and the spark. The TFI unit on the distributor ( or fenderwell) only controls the spark function,timing, etc. Replaced it and am running again.
