Too high. The wattage rating is a MAXIMUM. The actual power draw is determined by how much the system needs, not the rating of the power supply. By the same token, a car only goes as fast as you tell it to by pressing the gas pedal; it doesn't run at full throttle all the time. It's really difficult without knowing what sort of system you have. What processor do you have? That is a BIG draw right there; potentially over 100W. What about graphics cards? Mine requires a power connector as the AGP slot can't supply enough power on it's own. How many drives do you have? Case fans? Case lights?

the average system today needs at the very least 500w, I know I will not build one with less than that and prefer 750w if I can get them to buy that.More is better as jerv suggested because everything in todays new systems need more power not less.
