I have an Umbrella Cockatoo (member of the parrot family) does anyone know which household paints are completely safe to use around them. I have just recently moved in to a new house, and I desperately need to decorate. Can anyone advise me, please.

I dont know about the specifics of the cockatoo but water based paints are generally fine for all. I think as long as its not metalic based its ok. not 100 percent though im afraid.

Most water based paints and primers are safe. Check the can for the safety information. When you are doing the painting, though, try to have your bird in another room and the windows open so the off-gassing won't bother him. Nice to meet someone with an Umbrella. We used to raise them and loved them. What great characters they are, like little 4 year olds that never grow up lol!!!
