I live in Indiana. A drunk person came out of a bar next to a theater me and my friends were performing a musical at, and started punching people in their faces. Could the bar that the drunk came from get in trouble for serving him too much alcohol?

All but 8 states have Dram Shop Laws, which are the laws that deal with this issue. Indiana does have such a law. However, the bar is only liable if they served a drink to a noticeably intoxicated person. This is nearly impossible to prove. The person may have been noticeably intoxicated when he left the bar, but may not have been when he was served a drink. It gets even harder to prove when a person has been bar hopping (which is common nowadays). -
