Things are fleeting but if I could go back to retrieve anything I would take back some harsh words I had said to people and kept their friendship as my most treasured possessions.

    - About 20 watches, belonging to my Daddy, that some junkie stole from me, along with other jewelry with memories and some clothes.

    - Two full slips that were my Mother's, which I foolishly let a stripper bitch borrow and never got back. She stole clothes of mine too, while in my garage using my washer/dryer, and I've never seen her again.

    - A small black iron skillet, the only 1 out of 20 I wanted to keep from my family's beer joint/restaurant; a brass wall lamp my Aunt gave me for Christmas; and an old glass milk bottle I liked to use for flowers or clippings. These items weren't given back to me, after a relationship ended.

    - A large box of record albums, including ones that belonged to my parents, along with my own lameass collection (from the 70's). I was unable to find the box in the storage unit when removing my things at the end of another relationship, and had to give up looking.

    - Finally, it would be nice to have (some of) the money back I've spent, loaned, or otherwise lost through love, ignorant trust, or incredible stupidity in my life.

    1) My shop class Coke bottle lamp I made in 7th grade.

    2) My grandmother's passports.

    3) My mother's WWII food ration stamps.

    4) My doll house

    5) My Ganesh Batik from India.

    6) Virginity. (Lol. Just kidding. You couldn't pay me to take it back!)

I am glad you asked this question. here is a weird set of circumstances, involving my high school ring.

I dated this girl for one month and asked her to go steady with me. this was way back in 1963. i was very hesitant in giving her my high school ring as a symbol of our going steady. this gold ring was gorgeous. it was a jumbo size in 14 kt. gold. we continued to date steady for one year. one night, at a downtown movie theatre, my girlfriend washed her hands in the restroom. she took my ring off her finger, in order to key the ring dry. somehow, unknown, she left the ring on the basin in the restroom. i freaked out when she told me she had lost my ring. we dated a little longer and finally went our separate ways.

My gorgeous high school ring was missing. 12 years of waiting for this ring and now gone, vanished.

Then, one day approximately 12 years later, someone posted a note on the bulletin board of the ford glass plant in nashvville, tn., stating they had found a high school ring and gave its description. i could not believe what i had read. the ring had my initials on the inside, the high school name was correct, the year of graduation was correct and the jumbo 14 kt. gold size was correct. THIS WAS MY RING!!!

Where had my high school ring been for the past 12 years and how many fingers had worn my ring? I will never know. if only my ring could talk.

My ring is safe and back home where it belongs.

I had a hard time explaining all this, to my wife.
