Does wearing nail polish make your nails stop growing until you take it off?

Not that im aware of, i wear nail polish often and if i wear a dark colour and have it on for say a week or so, then you can actually see where the nail has grown up from the nailbed, so im pretty sure nail polish doesnt stop your nails growing.
