  • Get i down to simplest terms. For example You can be told to simplify 2x+6=4x+2. Solve that as best you can and you'll get x=2, which is ultimately the same problem, just simpler
  • Usually, that would mean dividing both sides of the equation by the largest common factor. That might still leave you with a quadratic equation to solve, but you'd have some of the arithmetic out of the way.
  • Solve it... write it in the simplest form.. define it.. that sort of thing
  • >> 20.4 / 4.2 There is more than one way to simplify this, but here's how I do it: * Get rid of the decimal by multiplying numerator and denominator each by 10: 204 / 42 * Look for common divisors, numerator and denominator. They're both even, so we can divide top & bottom by 2: 102 / 21 * We can divide top & bottom by 3: 34 / 7 That's as far down as it can be reduced, leaving both top & bottom (numerator & denominator) as integers. Make sense? That's your final answer.
  • Simplify. Like this. 2y + 3x -7x + 19 + 2y Both "Y" numbers go together, as do both "X" numbers. 4y - 4x + 19 Simplified.
