No. The sticky rice used in sushi rolls is a different type of rice usually sold in Asian markets (can't remember the name of it). "Regular" rice that Americans are used to buying, cooking, and eating has less starch because of the way it was processed. Sticky rice was processed differently - leaving the starch that makes it sticky.

Try a gourmet food store or section of a supermarket and see if they have "agar". It is a type of sea plant that many Oriental restaurants use to make the rice gummier and easier to eat with sushi, etc.

you can buy short grain rice, arborio (risotto) rice is also a good one to use... most grocery stores have a rice labeled sushi rice... it's down the rice aisle. if you can't find short grain rice or sushi rice try agar powder, agar powder is a vegetarian gelatin substitute so gelatin might help also...
