If the dermatologist suggested that you do it, then do it. The only true way to find out is to test it out & see if it works. Regular soap might dry out your face & if it does then only do it every so often.

WELL REGULAR SOAP USUALLY DRIES YOUR FACE BUT PROBABLY YOU SHOULD LOOK FOR A GOOD REGULAR SOAP AND TRY IT

Just a tip: I use St. Ives apricot face scrub and it exfoliates as I wash my face. There is a medicated version of the same and it is supposed to really help with acne. Worth trying. Hope it works for you!

Take the advise. St Ives IS great stuff, or dove soap's not bad.

well if soap drys out your face your skin will produce even more sebum.. This exfolation is bad idea, because acne is in the end an inflammation of the skin, the natural protection of it is lowed and if you start to wash your skin so often or using aggressive products (like the soap) your skin's ph-value will sink , so that you get a much more sensitive skin. Ergo: less possibility to find a product which works for you. I suggest you try to find another dermatologist. Furthermore mild soapfree products, regular exfolation and because its an inflammation a right-dosed antibiotic( usually Doxycyclin and Minocyclin) work wonders. It reduces the inflammation and the ingredients low the production of sebum too. But please keep in mind its medication, use it wisely. Good luck!

A dermatologist said that? If you have acne you should splash plain water on your face 5/6 times a day and wipe it dry and wash your face with soap twice a day. Try using medicated acne soaps atleast once a day on your face. (MY eyebrows are ached) The 10 times a day with soap will leave you with no skin to exfoliate. You will have wrinkles at this rate before you turn 25.

being clean never hurts :P
-
I would think 60 grit sandpaper once a day would have much the same effect.

phisohex liquid soap would be better. you should examine your diet and cut out anything that has grease or oil. no candy. no meat. no fast food.
