it depends on who you ask. On wikipedia, it shows it as being in either continent. I was taught it was part of Asia. But, I recently had a conversation with someone in England who was conviced it was part of Europe. Russia spans a continental line....not coincidentally, the one that separates Europe from Asia.

The line that conventionally divides Europe from Asia, the Ural mountains, runs through the middle of Russia. Most of the big cities, and probably more than half the population, are in the European section. The Asian section is much larger, but much of it us very sparsely populated.
