No to both, especially the tanning beds. A tan is a sign that your skin has been damaged by the sun. Tanning beds have been known to cause skin cancers, including the deadliest type - melanoma. If you must look tanned, better to try a tanning cream or bronzing powder but I don't understand the big thing about being tanned.

Is it OK? It's dumb (you'll get cancer eventually), but it's not illegal. Why don't you do something active while getting a tan (biking, hiking, jogging), rather than just lay there and get a tan. Tanning beds are a waste of money, and dangerous. You're just asking for trouble with your body later on.

Only if you like having skin cancer, once you have had it plus skin graphs, you wonder was it ever worth it? I can say that cause I have walked that path, it was no fun hearing the news on the phone, trip to cancer DR, cutting on my face, skin graph, the healing for the next 3-4 months and 6 month checkups for the rest of my life......

"The amount of it is, if a man is alive, there is always danger that he may die, though the danger must be allowed to be less in proportion as he is dead-and-alive to begin with." -- Thoreau, _Walden_ In other words, measure your risks in the knowledge that you are going to die eventually anyway, and could be hit by a falling meteor tomorrow, sitting behind your desk. I smoke a pipe, and I do so in full knowledge of the risks involved of mouth cancer, emphysema, gum disease, teeth deformation, and so on. I enjoy my pipe. It's not an addiction, because when I'm not in the mood for a pipe I'll go a month or two between bowls -- but when I feel like smoking, I'll smoke two or three bowls a day. I am a vegetarian, I don't drive a car, and I don't engage in high-impact sports. I figure I have removed enough risk factors from my life than I can afford a bowl of tobacco every now and then, despite the risks. If you want to tan for the pleasure of tanning, then do so in the knowledge of the risks, and if you do some day get melanoma, don't shake your fists at the sky and ask "Why me?" You made an existential choice to accept some measure of risk for the value you received from the activity. Take what you want, and then pay for it.

Tanning beds, and sun tans, both cause colouration to your skin, and any tanning is a sign of damage to your skin. be careful, as this may lead to cancer eventually. be active whilst getting a tan, as being stationary while tanning is more dangerous
