First I think you need to define what you mean by 'addiction'. I've known people who've been cannabis users for decades, and none of them show any signs of 'addiction'. This isn't heroin we're talking about here. I'm also not aware of any reliable balance of studies that confirms cannabis has chemically addictive properties in the same way as (for example) tobacco. Many studies indicate some people can develop a psychological dependancy on the drug, but this cannot be ranked in the same league as addiction to many other drugs (including some freely prescribed in the past by doctors). In my entire life I've known one single person for whom cannabis has led to other, more serious drug use. I know dozens who won't touch anything other than their 'drug of choice', and who can take it or leave it. Half the people I know who use cannabis are 'weekend users' only, or less frequently than that. This is not the behaviour of an 'addict'. I would say that on the balance of evidence, both personal and scientific, that there is no such thing as addiction to cannabis, and if there is a certain psychological dependancy then, simply, stop using it - it should be no more difficult than stopping biting your nails.

STOP! Stay away from people who use! Find healthy ways to love yourself and your body.

If you are talking about physical addiction, it does not excist with marijuana. I completely agree with the answer of MrWitch! Mental addiction however does excist, like you can be mentally addicted to many things. And I'm not only talking about things to eat, smoke or otherwise digest, but also behavior can be very addictive. Just look at some people who are addicted to be in the middle of attention. Anyway, if you feel that you are mentally addicted to marijuana, then first you should take a good look at what you don't want about it anymore. What does it do to you, what problems do you think it gives you, and why do you smoke it in the first place. Be fully aware of this, as it helps you to get insight in yourself and also in overcoming. Then, as stupid as it may sound, just stop using it! As with any mental addiction, at first you will feel restless. This is because it is you are breaking through a pattern or a habbit. Do something else instead. Go on a holliday, go sporting, things like that. Stay aware of why you wanted to stop in the first place and why should you continue doing something you do not want to do? Be proud of yourself when you don't fall for your habits.
