There is no urgent worldwide food situation. Vertical Farms cost more than regular farms. Until this changes, they won't be big.

"urgent worldwide food situation" implies the world has a problem. There are a few places with a problem, not the world. These places generally have political reasons for their problems. Haiti's main problem is Haitians. If they could produce anything they could trade it for food but they are basically useless.
