Is Clear flowing water always safe to drink? and can you drink it straight from the source or do you always have to boil it first?

If it's a creek, there could always be a dead water buffalo or a troop of Boy Scouts just upstream around the bend. Even a spring might have toxins seeping down into it from dump sites.

Either use a portable water filter or boil it if it is suspicious. Too many organisms can live in clear water and it not worth the time, trouble, pain and expense of getting sick.
