  • Need to convert fractions to a common denominator, which in this case would be '8'. Therefore you have 2/8 and 4/8. The figure half-way between would be 3/8.
  • The best way to figure this is ... 1. Calculate the difference between the two values. This is simple subtraction. (Of course, you do have to figure the common denominator in order to arrive at a way to do the subtraction.) 2. Divide that difference in half. So you can either divide by 2 or ... since *no one* likes to divide fractions! ... multiply that difference by 1/2. 3. Add that value to the low value, and there is your mid-point. 4. To prove that, you could also subtract the value found in Step 2 from the high value, and see that it's the same as the value found in Step 3.
