  • I'M NOT AN ATTORNEY OR JUDGE. Follow the directions on the citation and APPEAR in traffic court on the right day at the right time. In fact, get there about 30 to 45 minutes early. Your case will probably be bunched with others for the same date and time. DON'T get upset or panic! DON'T get mad. Remain cool, calm and collected! I went to court many times - as a Plaintiff and/or as a witness. Due to the fact I KNEW better, I NEVER went looking like a "slob". Before your court appearance, make sure you get ready and dressed in your "Sunday best" - just like you were going to dinner with your first love to a very fancy restaurant on Saturday night! Everything as perfect as you can get it: Hair cut (or tied back) Hair styled Showered or bathed. Stockings/pantyhose Shoes shined/polished Clean, fresh-looking dress or skirt. When you get to the court house, you address everyone: "Yes, sir". "No, sir". "Yes, ma'am". "No, ma'am". When you speak to the Judge: "Yes, your honor". "No, your honor". "Yes, sir". "No, sir". OR in the case of a lady Judge: "Yes, ma'am". "No, ma'am". I can almost guarantee: IF you go dressed like you usually do: jeans, tee shirt, sneakers and poorly groomed, you won't be treated the same way! You'll be looked at AND treated in a whole different way. Why are you going this "extra mile"? To show and prove to the court you have "respect" for thee court and the system! Thanks for asking your Q! I hope the information helps. I did my best to answer it. VTY, Ron Berue Yes, that is my real last name! Sources: Some personal observations and opinions.
