I believe saying the Luck of the Irish is really talking about bad luck....My Great Grandmother came from Ireland and would use the term when something went wrong....the history behind it, I don't know.....

Im half Irish, and have to say, theyre extremely supersticious and live by following all sorts of 'whats lucky' and 'whats unlucky' so any good fortune they may encounter, they deem as 'luck'
