Because your god lives in the sky like so many other gods and if he's sending something to earth then the direction of travel is "down". If your god lived under the ground then he would send things "up" woudn't he? Or if your god lived in a cave he would send it "over" right? Maybe via UPS or FedEx if they had such a thing back then. Anyway, about the "iron" thing - maybe your god dosn't want to take credit for creating "iron", maybe he came across "Iron" in his travels through the sky - perhaps he stole it from another god when their back was turned - it's hard to say really - because god works in mysterous and often pointless ways we may never know the answer for sure. Then again it could just be a typo - or bad grammer, or another god screwing with your god by bribing the publisher of the Quran to screw with the manuscript or typeface - perhaps in revenge for stealing that "iron" that was sent down. Again - we may never know the answer for sure - and I don't think it's safe to bring this subject up anyway - maybe god dosn't want us to talk about where he got the "iron" from.
