Look on your drivers door. There will be a sticker that shows the manufacturer's recommended tire pressure. This may also be in your owners manual. The attached image shows you where to look generally. If you can't find this sticker or is it's damaged beyond recognition you can phone a tire shop or mercury dealer. In the meantime, usually around 30-35psi is a normal pressure for cars of that size. I have 16inch tires as well and run 32psi (Man. recommended). the manufacturer puts the maximum air pressure on the tire in small writing. you can adjust from there.
