Infinity is an unreachable state. So should we ignore its implications or heed them?

Which implications do you mean exactly? Generally my answer would be that the notion of infinity has no bearing on our day to day lives, but its an interesting thing to discuss.

Heed. Do this because if you think of it, the universe represents infinity. It just goes on and on and on.

Infinity is unreachable, but both the concept of infinity an infinitesimals are useful in logical thinking. The whole of calculus is based on infinitesimals - that to which things tend when you make them ever smaller. Likewise, the concept of that to which things tend, even if they don't reach them, is immensely valuable. To ignore infinity is like saying that, because you cannot visit everywhere in the world, there is no point in going anywhere.
