  • Unionist. Many at the time claimed that the North's invasion of the south had nothing to do with freeing an enslaved people, but to steal their natural resourses (sugar and cotton). Many make the same claims about the Bush administration. The two had a lot in common, really.

  • Well, Bush has got the first multiracial, multicultural cabinet I've ever seen in my lifetime, despite all the claims of the Democrats that they are on the side of the poor, the minority and women. So I'd have a hard time believing he'd be on the side of slavery. The democratic party was also the party of the southern planters during the war and of the KKK afterward, so somehow I don't think that would be where you would find him.
