Why is it on talk shows the guest almost always sits to the hosts right? Is there a reason for this. Ellen mentioned this the other day but didn't give a real answer.

Here is my theory. It is out of respect to the guest. We read from right to left, therefore maybe we also view our televisions from right to left. Putting the guest to the right or "first" makes it clear that the guest is the most important.
