  • The PS3 provides an optical digital port that outputs Dolby Digital 5.1 surround. Use an optical cable to hook it up to a compatible A/V reciever. This is the best option. If you don't have an A/V reciever and wish to use a traditional analog stereo or reciever, you can purchase a cable that plugs into the "AV Multi Port." It provides an analog audio and composite video. Leave the composite video plug disconnected since you already have the HDMI hooked up.
