  • you're on the subway, and you just close your eyes for just a moment but drift off for a short snooze, with out meaning to. meanwhile in bed you're actually trying to sleep.

  • I would love to be able to answer this as well. I live in a neighborhood that is plagued with the sounds of barking dogs, police/ambulance/fire sirens, helicopters and prop planes, and car crashes. I never have much trouble sleeping through any of it. I spent the last week in a fairly quiet hotel room, and I was only able to sleep one night out of the 7 I was there. Go figure.
  • I assume it is because you are used to that environment maybe to an extent. Just like people that need the sound of frogs and crickets to go to sleep. I was on a ship for 3 years and I got so used to sleeping with the hum of machinery it was also hard for me to sleep with silence.
