  • It either doesn't bother them as much as they say or that they secretly like it, for at least it is some attention.
  • i ask myself the same thing :)
  • Maybe they don't even realize that they can, simply by clicking on the "ratings box" until the x goes away.
  • I'm not bothered by them, but I did turn my ratings off. Easier to make sure I don't miss comments etc. Every now and then I'll check 'em out just for fun but that's pretty rare.
  • I didn't know you could. I haven't read the manual.
  • Probably because they don't know how. There is a lot to know on this site and it is nice when someone suggests it to that person. So how do you shut them Off? Forget that. I just figured it out.
  • You still get all your comments and such, right? And you know how many more points until the next level also? Then I'll check it out if those are the givens
  • There are times I get ratings without comments. I tend to forget to rate the questions I answer, so I use the ratings to return to the question to rate it. Negative ratings don't bother me THAT much... I usually just leave a comment to the DRer on answers, asking what's wrong with it. (BTW: I actually got a response the other day... It didn't make COMPLETE sense, but they DID respond! I was actually shocked! LOL)
  • I don't know. I don't turn anything off. I've become very good at ignoring/being oblivious to/ not noticing "stuff" like that. When you look at it as irrelevant, all about the guy/gal who did DR and has nothing at all to do with the "target", well, it's something to which one can easily become indifferent, isn't it? Happy Wednesday! :) ((hugs))
  • I used to have mine off and it was a wonderful thing. I think most people don't know they can turn them off or if they do know about it, they feel they'll miss out on knowing other things. Or maybe they want to see how well their questions are doing and aren't satisfied to see their total points go up or rise up a level. I don't know. It sure makes bagging a happier experience without knowing all the bad stuff. Though it's still a terrible thing to run into your questions and either SEE the minus sign or know that you had more points up there. That's a tip off. And then again, maybe they enjoy the drama or they have done things to others and need to be on th ewatch to see if someone comes back at them so they can go after them again, etc...
  • They either dont know how, or they like to whine and cause drama to get more points.
  • I keep my ratings off. Admittedly, it upsets me when I am met with conflict or other negativity here. I love it here, and I get very upset and sensitive when this is the case. It is best to buck up, develop a thick skin, and trudge forward with positivity and conviction, of course. But still, sometimes you wonder why it has to be you and why the focus shifts from the fun of the Q+A to the drama. I don't know how anyone actually keeps their ratings on, though!
  • I couldn't do that. I wouldn't be able to take the piss out of the idiots that think I'm posting anti-American propaganda, like this one: http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/4074274 I had a similar set of downrates when I answered a question about the difference between US and UK spellings and I light-heartedly suggested that the reason for our different spellings is that Noah Webster was dyslexic. I would have missed out on loads of fun if I had Ratings turned off.
  • <De Nero's voice>~~~Are you talking to me? .... "cause if you are, those people are like me, we love drama in our lives.
  • I didnt know they had this feature. How do you do that?
  • Sometimes what people imagine is more scary than the reality of what's happening. If some people were to make it so they can't see their downrates, they would imagine that they are getting far more than they actually are.
