Help answer this question below.

After an interview a potential employer may go to the persons Facebook or Myspace page to check the person out. I thought only that person's friends can see their profile. Can anyone see it?

    Unless you've set your profile to private, anyone can see it. Even if it's private, anyone can see certain things.

    on the upper right hand side of the home screen, there is an "ACCOUNT \/" button. Account>privacy setting> you will see a page which is pretty self explanatory. You can also set your profile to only let 'friends of friends' view it, but like the previous poster answered, you will still show some info no matter how private you want to remain. (profile picture, witch sex you are and some cases, interests are shown-but i am not sure on this for i am still learning my way around facebook)IMO using an alias is an easy way to stop potential (or even current) employers from seeing info you want kept private.
    ***FYI*** most times, reputable companies will do a professional background check on applicants. They use professional background check companies that have ppl poke around the social networks to find any info, they also look at state,city and county legal issues(including domestic issues like unpaid child support, DWI/DUI's, recorded drug possessions, etc...)
    Do a background check on yourself with one of these companies so you can be prepared to give an explanation for anything u did not want them finding out.
