A boil has an internal hard head, that is solid pus, it brews up over a few days, to a week, is extremely painful, it needs antibiotics to clear it up, and needs to be squeezed to eradicate the pus and pain,. They are really disugsting. They are usually quite large as well. pimples are often smaller, usually dont need anitbiotics, have a shorter life span of a few days usually.

  • Okay do not listen to that poster! DO NOT SQUEEZE a boil, which could inhibit bacteria growth. The best thing is to apply hot compresses to a boil. A boil is an infect hair follicule or a growth of bacteria deep in your skin. It is often very painful, tender, and extremely red. Usually boils go away on their own without any medication, but if it becomes extremely bothersome or you get a fever go to a DR. A pimple is smaller, doesn't hurt as bad [but they can hurt], and goes away on its own within a few days to a week, a boil usually takes a bit longer. They are very similar but a boil usually hurts worse and is bigger. Hope that helps!
  • A boil is bacterial and needs medical needs. I had 7 one summer when I was young and it was horrible and painful with a hard core in each one. A doctor had to lance them and clean them out. Back then they said a virus caused them, I don't know if that's true.
