I think that what makes sharks so interesting is that they can be a formidable foe to human beings, but people can neither completely understand or dominate them. Sharks have impressive physical abilities, including a jaw span that could make a person quite nervous – LOL!!! Sharks have extremely keen senses and are highly adapted. People love to be in the water recreationally. Yet, this is neither a person’s domain nor natural habitat. We dwell in seas that are both unknown and… unsafe. We want to believe that there is a smalllikelihood of catastrophic tragedy – but read the news stories. I am glad to post this after Labor Day!!!!! I value sharks for their scientific and natural wonder an am in awe of what they are capable of as amazing creatures. What is most interesting about sharks is probably what Spielberg thought: What could possibly be a more daunting, fear-infusing predator than this beast?

I find them interesting because they are one of the planets only creatures that don't sleep. Maybe that's why their so growchy yes?

to me, the sheer utter fact that a huge, fiece animal can actually eat me all or have the capacity to totally consume me without the slightest hint of remorse. the vast coldness

I think it's because they are one of the very few predators that are capable of actually eating us alive. We have a prehistoric, primordial fear of being gobbled up by predators. Hippos kill more people in Africa than lions, leopards and crocodiles do put together. However because they don't actually consume us, we totally underestimate the danger they pose to us. Also sharks are silent killers, we often don't even know they're there. Also we are out of our depth in the sea, their environment is totally alien to us. Great Whites are the only creature we cannot captivate. They are a (j)aw - inspiring, mysterious, dangerous unknown quantity. Hope that's cleared that one up for you.
