I always enjoy the book more than the movie. I guess I just prefer my imagination over the directors. :)

We get lots from reading! Sure, distraction is one of them, but, how many times have you had to do something, and said, "one more chapter"??? It really gives us insight into others minds, and we develop from it.

In the film and play, Shadowlands, C.S. Lewis's character says, "We read to know we’re not alone." I agree and for that reason we also write. We read because reading broadens our understanding of life. We read to experience vicariously what we can never hope to experience in a single lifetime. We read to learn and grow. We read to be challenged in our assumptions. Sometimes we read to escape, but it is an escape that always brings us back to reality. We read to be inspired and motivated. We read to satisfy our curiosity. My books are my friends and my teachers. I can't imagine living in a world where I could not read.
