Sorry but I can't give you my exact address. LOL Actually there is an old poorhouse on a farm about 10 miles from where I live. It has been converted to a handicapped accessible series of apartments for persons with disabilities. It was the actual Lancaster County Poor House for poor families late in the 1800's and early 1900's.

Where you live without utilities because you can't afford them..where you live in ramshackle squalor because you have no money for upkeep. Where you eat catfood or nothing at all, because you have no money to buy food..because you had bad luck, no health insurance, and you got wiped out by illness. That's where the poor house is! :(

It was once where Poor families were sent, before welfare. Now the Poor Houses are all the foreclosed homes in America... those poor houses are being invaded and destroyed by drug users because the new owners (banks) can't take care of them. The pipes are being ripped out for the cash they bring, and the homes will be end up being worthless.

Before the New Deal, a poor house was established on a hill in the outskirts of my town. I believe that money was bequeathed to support this establishment by wealthy industrialists who lived in my area.

I'd say the Capital Building in Washington D.C., how much poorer can you be than to be almost 11 trillion dollars in debt? The problem is those morons overspent money and signed OUR names to the loan agreements. Every U.S. citizen owes about $35,000 due to this incompetence. Congress should be flushed out like a toilet bowl full of turds. Let's start over.

In England in Victorian days the word 'Poor House' was another word for 'Work House' and its where widows and widowers were sent who had no means of keeping themselves.To pay for their keep they had to do work such as picking hemp to make ropes etc.
