These critics have evidently adapted to the language and idioms of their leader, whose people strategerize constantly in ways to enturbulate. So eloquence is no longer considered an asset. It doesn't surprise me.

I think it's important. His detractors are using it against him by saying that he has lots of style but no substance, which I disagree with. Maybe the republicans are just shocked by the contrast with the current commander's speaking ability. Eloquence sure beats a squinty, disingenuous smile, no vocabulary and mispronounced words like nuclear.

I certainly wouldn't wasnt a leader that had to search for words or stumble and sputter when speaking. I hope, if he is the winner, he can convey his foreign policies as eloquently:)

yes. but after george w., i think the expectations of the american people have gone WAY down. dubya [i like to call him bubya] has truly lowered the bar to maybe about a few inches off the floor ~ limbo anyone? i think republicans will criticize anything about obama that is a strength. eloquence is certainly one of his many attributes. i think eloquence and being a smart speaker are important qualities of an excellent statesman ~ thy're a must for a president. but then again, i guess i must have higher expectations than a large number of americans ~ they voted for bush TWICE!
