Should have looked at the category first. Yeah, I think it can be. It depends on what you procrastinate. If you properly prioritize the things you procrastinate, then probably not. If you are procrastinating important things, it's probably due to fear of a sort. Anxiety is what usually causes me to procrastinate important things. That's why I tend to try to do the things I fear most first. Once they are out of the way, there's nothing to be anxious about, and the important things are done. I do tend to put to much on my plate though, which means I have to put the less important things off, so I still procastinate, but it's selective, and less of a problem. In theory.

no procastination is not an illness.its saying you are going to do something but when it comes time to do it you put it off.and of course it never gets done.for instants you say i'm going to fix the garage door tomorrow ,so you look for an excuse not to do it,then 10 years later its still not fixed.good advise never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.you might think you don't have time but remember time never stops.you need to get yourself a routine going so you can get the things that need to be done out of the way.some people may think that if they take the batteries out of the clock that time stopped .time will continue to move forward long after we are all gone.

I hope it's not, I don't want to have a mental illness in my past once i'm recovered from it :0 hee...hee...:)

procrastination is often a sign on anxiety. So no, it's not a mental illness.

Ordinarily, almost everybody procrastinates. It is partly from anxiety over doing something you've never done or know you won't do well. It can also be something not too important and other things take precedence. Of course, any peculiarity carried to the extreme could be considered a mental illness of sorts. For example, if you always put off bathing or washing your clothes, it could indicate some sort of personality disorder (and smell bad).

Yes, I think procrastination can be considered an illness. It becomes a problem when it impedes your normal function meaning that when you ought to do something which you normally do, and you STILL procrastinate, that could be already considered UNHEALTHY. Although procrastination is a BEHAVIORAL condition, it can also cause mental disability and dysfunction. Procrastination can be connected with ADHD or depression. Procrastination is not a thing of beauty. You should be able to cure it right away. I have been reading this book since last week and my procrastinating has lessened and i am actually quite productive these days. I don't get yelled at by my wife by not doing chores. It's a happier and more fulfilling life. Here's a link to the book I'm reading right now. http://www.selfmadeeasy.com/pd-procrastination.cfm
