The biggest problem with horses is that they use fuel (eat) whether or not you use them. I would much rather own a car that only costs me money when I use it.

Feeding horses for all would take a Hell of a lot of oats to grow at the farms. Also, are you really willing to wait three months for the package ordered from eBay? It was the primary transport in the 1800s, and so was the telegraph for sending messages. Care to reply to me in telegraph? --- ... ---

No, because no one can afford the Vet bills, or the fact that you have to feed them whether you use them each day or not! They are far too slow and have no protection from weather or other drivers!

I hear the Amish still use em.

yes the only problem with this is... you would have so many cases of animal abuse, not to mention more human injuries due to the fact, no one works with horses anymore. Its not easy to train or break a horse. And to feed all those horses to replace motor vehicles. each horse should have at least an acre and a half of pasture to eat on and thats only for the summer if you have cold living conditions or snow you need hay, and thats land you need that you cant have anything on. This year the hay is expensive enough! oh and the vet bills and hoof care. they do have to be trimmed. there arent enough people trained in trimming to go around for that many horses. I think it would be cool dont get me wrong I love my horses. But for the better of both them and us. Not such a good idea

That would be a sign of de-evolution if ever I saw one.

Bales of hay are no longer 2.50 a bale. they are running around 11 to 14 in some parts of the country. If you were to only allow one bag of bedding for your horse a week. That would be one nasty smelling stable. and would increase the chance of your horse getting thrush or other infections in the foot. not a acceptable living condition.
