While those classes can be taken (in many schools, mine at least), it's hard to focus on such things because in these days so many people find things "offensive" even if they are merely fact. For instance if Buddhism is taught in the school, just the facts behind it- what is it? how is it practiced so forth- some looney will go "Hey! don't force that upon me! i'm -insert religion-" people are crazy, someone will ALWAYS be offended by something

In short, we sacrifice pleasing the masses in favor of not offending 1 person

My experience has been that, in terms of the humanities, in high school they teach you more WHAT to think, instead of HOW to think. This is because (in America) school boards are elected and parents complain, etc.

When I got to college, my social sciences (humanities ie: history, sociology, geography, political science) professors preferred students who had learned very little about those subjects. I actually had a few professors who told us that they had to help us forget anything we thought we'd learned, so that we could begin to learn history.

Actually i go to a highschool where those are its main focus. But thats because its an Internationally based school where they are trying to impose these topics on American Students.

Though i might conclude that international topics are not widely discussed because as Americans we feel as if we are the center of the universe.

Well, I'll give you my feelings one at a time.

Religion - This has no place in our school systems. If you want your child to learn about religion, teach them yourself or send them to a private school. (Separation of church and state)

Current Affairs and World Politics - These are constantly changing things and have quite a bit of room for opinion in them. The student should keep up with these things by watching the news or reading the paper. This would also take away a large portion of time for the teachers to teach about other things that you need to get by in life.

World Geography - You didn't have Geography in High School. That's a required class in most curriculums from what I thought. If you haven't had it, yes this should be part of your high school classes.
