I don't know much about baking but maybe you should let it sit. It may keep all the flavor inside with the steam spreading throughout. But I would wait for a more experienced answer before you consider mine.

It depends on what kind of bread and how you like it's consistency. Sweet breads like pumpkin, banana nut, etc. are best consumed right out of the oven with your favorite topping. Sandwich loafs are good hot if you like them light and airy. If you let them sit they get more dense.

You should let yeasty type breads rest for at least one hour so that the moisture has a chance to stabilize and not evaporate as soon as you cut it. Quick breads are best the next day after it's cooled and the flavors have a chance to meld and blend together.

If your loaf is a "standard" loaf you will want to let it rest if you are planning to slice it - if the bread is too soft, it will be pretty difficult to slice!
