  • The idea was that this film and I would assume all future Daniel Craig 007 films are to be more character driven, to better represent what Ian Fleming originally envisioned the James Bond stories to be like, rather than a film that consists of several action set pieces involving lots of technical gadgetry and very little substance in between. Furthermore, it also allows the writers a little bit of a rest in terms of thinking of new technological marvels. I mean, they'll be inventing cars that are invisible next! Oh, hang on... I can understand why many people are disappointed by the new film as it does have different tone and emphasis is on story rather than all out action as previous Bonds have been, but I actually liked it (it helps that I enjoy poker!). I think that now there are so many Bond clones coming out that do satisfy the action part that really the production had to go in a new (ironically also the original) direction. Mind you, I do love Aston Martins and a cool car chase would have been great. The one in Die Another Day had so much promise but unfortunately had to be limited in length due to time restrictions and actual production problems.
  • i was hoping 4 more with an aston martin chase 2 but the opening action scene is more physical than bond normally would do great exercise though the man he was chasing actually did most of the fancy jumps and stuff its actually a sport called parkour cool stuff
  • I think Daniel Craig is a great Bond, reminding me of Sean Connery. I did not like how they changed the song animation. I also think that the Bond storylines have gone downhill lately. Nonetheless, it was a good movie.
  • I actually think it was probably one of the best Bond films, if not THE best one. BUT: I think your view of the movie depends very much on what you expected from it. If you went along expecting a classic bond movie with all the Bond cliches - the scantily clad girls, the car chases, the improbable gadgets, the one liners and innuendoes, you'd be disappointed. It was definetly a more down to earth, realistic, grittier film than we're used to. It was however very well acted, believable, and at times very dark (I particularly liked the presentation of Bond as an inexperienced wannabe-maverick, going against official advice). It also (as a kind of "Bond begins") gave us some insight into his later attitude towards women as disposable items (his betrayal by a woman he loved) and gives the wise-cracking smoothie we all know a history and a more human face. It was well written and well-acted and well filmed. I think my view of it would be that it was a bad Bond movie, but a good movie. I think perhaps non-die hard Bond fans were probably more able to appreciate it, as they judge it on its own merits, rather than as part of the classic Bond tradition.
  • I loved it actually. I agree that the opening scene was probably the best bit in the movie.
  • I enjoyed it. Let's face it, to paraphrase Dorothy "We're not in the 60's anymore." Daniel Craig is playing the kind of man in the 21st century we want to have on our side in the war on terrorism. Can you picture Osama having Bond facing death under a laser beam, then letting him go?
  • Yes to answer your question this film is very dark bond is not like this or goes to these extrems ....it is a poor attemp at a bond film
