    I have the same problem, and my algae-eaters aren't doing the job well enough. I've read that it's just a side-effect of having really healthy water. *shrug*

    It doesn't grow as fast if you keep the light off.

    I think thats because of algae. So you could buy some snails at the petshop, there're not so expensive, or you could buy some algae-eating fish.

    its almost always a diatom bloom, if your tank is new, don't worry. if its established, worry. check water, reduce "daylight" hours, or clean the tank from top to bottom, inside and out. i've heard that most species of algae eaters won't eat brown algae, so peruse your preferred purveyor of aquatic paraphernalia to find out one that will...
