I thought the word was "defrost"
-
“Unthaw” is an illogical negative. Use “thaw.”
-
People here are missing the point. Un means the opposite. So unthaw means to freeze, although I really doubt it is officially considered a word by the people who write the dictionary.
-
Yes it is ..http://www.thefreedictionary.com/unthaw http://www.audioenglish.net/dictionary/unthaw.htm
-
It has been used enough so as to sneak in the back door of some dictionaries. But it is really pretty poor use of language and means the opposite of "thaw."
-
Unthaw may be a word, but if it is it is an inproper one because to unthaw something would be the opposite of thawing which is to freeze.
-
Up here we say 'freeze' yo...
-
I knew this one guy who always used to say that. Bugged the hell out of me. I kept saying, "So you want me to freeze it, right?"
-
If ice cream melts when you take it out of the freezer, and then re-freezes, I suppose you could call that unthaw, but hardly anyone would know what you are talking about. I have ice that does that, when I leave it on the counter, it thaws just a tiny bit, then back in the freezer, it unthaws enough to stick together the next time I want some, it's all one big chunk. The concept is there, but I don't think it's a real word.
-
Nope... to unthaw something is to refreeze it. Oddly enough, the only time I've heard someone say "unthaw" was in reference to thawing it. When it rains, it pours - even when it's raining incorrect grammar.
-
No. Its a stupid made up word for a process that already has a name.
-
No it is thaw or defrost to unthaw would be to freeze
-
I don't think "unthaw" is a word. It would be needless to have such a word when thaw means the opposite of freeze.
